<p><strong>New York, NY October 1, 2010</strong> &#8211; MyCelx Technologies  has been named a Finalist for the prestigious 2010 Platt&#8217;s Global Energy  Awards. Judges selected MyCelx in the category of Sustainable  Technology Innovation of the Year. Other finalists for the award include  Aquamarine Power, Calera and Virent Energy Systems. Platts Global  Energy Awards, now in their 12th year, recognize significant  contributions to the energy industry.</p>
<p>In choosing MyCelx, judges evaluated MyCelx and Saudi Basic  Industries Corporation (SABIC) innovative and environmentally sound  solution to the long-standing challenge of eliminating toxic pollutants  in wastewater at a large petrochemical complex in Al-Jubail Industrial  City, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.</p>
<p>The resulting innovation is based on point-source reduction, is  cost-effective, sustainable and likely to become standard industry  practice in the next five years, thereby creating a safer, healthier  working environment around the world.</p>
<p>Winners of the 2010 Global Energy Awards will be announced on December 2, 2010 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.</p>

<p><strong>RasLaffan, Qatar, June 2010- </strong>MyCelx Technologies has  been awarded a contract for a 410 m3 per hour oil removal system by  Chiyoda/Technip Joint Venture (CTJV). The MyCelx unit will safeguard  the processed water loop in the QGII Complex of Qatar Liquefied Gas Co.  Ltd. from any hydrocarbon leak or spill. The effluent water quality from  MyCelx will be less than or equal to 1 ppm. The MyCelx system is  compact, has a very small footprint and can handle free and soluble  hydrocarbons in water.</p>

<p><strong>Istanbul, Turkey, Jan. 2010</strong> &#8211; MyCelx Technologies has been awarded  a contract by ENKA Power Systems BV and Bechtel for  a complete oily wastewater recycling plant in Yajva State District Power Plant in Russia.  MyCelx is delivering state of the art oil removal technology for the wastewater recycling plant  that is capable of achieving 0.1-0.3 ppm discharge water quality. The system design is compact and has PLC automation.</p>

<p><strong>What is Industrial Wastewater Treatment?</strong></p>
<p>Industrial  wastewater treatment is the physical, biological and chemical process of  removing contaminants from water fluid streams. The aim of these water  treatment systems is to make industrial wastewater safe for re-use or  release into the environment.</p>
<p>The most common contaminants include  oils, greases and heavy metals, as well as benzine and other petroleum  by-products. AIS Environmental uses proven oil and water separation  technologies to remove contaminants with the lowest possible ecological  impact.</p>
<h4>Why is it important to remove oil from water?</h4>
<p>While the adverse effects of oil spills on the natural environment  are widely recognised and immediately apparent, the sustained release of  smaller &#8211; often undetectable &#8211; amounts of oil in wastewater can be just  as damaging. By putting the right water treatment system in place, oil  can be captured quickly and effectively.</p>
<p>The United States Environmental Protection Authority has set a limit  on the amount of oil permitted in marine wastewater discharge – a  maximum of 29 parts per million (ppm).  The oil and water separator  systems used by AIS Environmental can remove oil from from water to  below 5 parts per million.</p>
<h4>Risk-free water filtration and oil removal</h4>
<p>AIS Environmental uses MyCelx, the only oil-removal water treatment  system to receive certification from both the U.S. EPA and Lloyd&#8217;s  Register, London.</p>
<p>Developed in 1994, MyCelx has since found use in oil separation,  waste filtration and water treatment applications the world over, from  marine industries to the resources and manufacturing sectors.</p>
<p>MyCelx is non-toxic, non-leaching and made entirely from  naturally-occurring materials.  Ideally suited to a number of systems,  we use this unique material in portable water polishing skids,  filtration tubes and spill containment booms.</p>
<p>Globally, this technology has seen use from market leaders such as  Shell, Chevron and BP, but we&#8217;ve been at hard at work close to home,  too.</p>
